About
The Alpha Chi Omega House Corporation Board for the Alpha Phi Chapter is a non-profit corporation that owns and manages the AXΩ House at the University of Texas, located at 2420 Nueces. The Board is comprised of AXΩ volunteers, Austin alumnae and Alpha Phi collegiates. We meet regularly, usually once a month during the school year and periodically during the summer.
Operating collegiate housing is a major undertaking, and we are committed to providing a place that is affordable, financially sound, well maintained, safe, secure, and stylish. We oversee decorating and design, landscaping, general maintenance and repair projects of the House. We work closely with the House Director, who resides at the AXΩ House and manages the day-to-day operations of the House, including directing a staff of five employees. We also work closely with the Chapter Advisor, the Chapter's Housing Advisor and the Alpha Phi President, Vice President Finance, and House Manager.

Interior Design
The chair of the Interior Design Committee is Jeanna Crow. She is currently coordinating the redesign of the outdated communal bathrooms in the residential area of the House.
The interior of the Alpha Chi Omega house at the University of Texas is maintained through the AXΩ House Corporation Board.
In the summer of 2010, we updated the Lyre Room and the downstairs television room. We painted the dark wood paneling in the television room, added new lighting, replaced some of the furniture and the carpet, and it made the space much brighter and inviting.
During the summer of 2011, the House Corporation Board is redesigning and redecorating one of the communal bathrooms to make it a more useable space for the residents. The Alpha Phi Chapter House was built in 1960 and still has the original bathrooms on the residence level. The current configuration does not allow the women enough electric plugs, a surface near the sinks to place their toiletries, or much privacy in the toilet stalls.
The house has two large communal bathrooms upstairs which both need to be renovated; however it is cost prohibitive to remodel both bathrooms at one time. Our new design will incorporate a counter space with reset sinks, vanity mirrors and additional electrical outlets for the blow dryers and straighteners the women use on a daily basis. The vanity will also provide storage for extra toilet paper rolls which are now stored on the edge of the toilets.
During the 2011 winter break, we replaced the valves on three of the showers that were unusable because of the very low water pressure. These showers, as well as the remaining showers, will be re-tiled and will feature new faucets and shower heads.
The new bathroom design will provide a more useable space featuring necessary privacy for the residents.
Landscaping
The interim chair of the Landscaping Committee is Teresa McBride. She coordinates the maintenance and upgrading of the landscaping on the outside of the House. Teresa works closely with the chapter?s Recruitment Chairs prior to the Fall Recruitment on developing the best landscaping plan for showcasing the House during this event.
Collegiate/Alumna Participation
Collegiate Members of the House Corporation Board (HCB)
The House Corporation Board at the University of Texas is an example of Collegiate/Alumnae partnership. We have three Chapter representatives who share two votes at every meeting of the Board. They represent the Chapter?s opinions and requirements in every decision made by the HCB. For example, the Chapter President has attended every Interior Design meeting this Spring while the Committee has made detailed decisions concerning plans to redesign the communal bathrooms in the residential area of the House. Her voice has been instrumental in helping decide the style and d?cor for this project.
Alumna Chapter Advisor
Our Chapter Advisor, Nikki Hennick, is a key alum who works with the Chapter. As Chapter Advisor, she oversees many aspects of Alpha Chi Omega, playing a vital role in the inter workings of the organization. She works closely with the House Director weekly to make sure the house is running smoothly and all areas are organized from daily meals to security. Because the women of the chapter are her number one priority, she attends weekly meetings with both the executive board and the chapter members. She ensures that the women of the chapter abide by the National Fraternity Policies and Procedures and the University Policies as well to protect them, our house and our charter.
In addition, our Chapter Advisor maintains an advisory board of area alumnae who volunteer their time to various executive board positions. It would not be possible for her to do everything by herself, so these women are vital to the success of this organization. She also hold an ex officio position on the House Corporation Board. Please contact her at TexasAXOhcb@yahoo.com should you have any questions regarding her role or how she can assist.
